Meniere's disease and what to do about it.

The main cause of Meniere's disease is a hidden or open inflammatory process in the oral cavity or in adjacent areas, in the so-called maxillofacial area. If the gums are clearly inflamed, then this is the cause of the disease. Excess lymph is created to isolate inflammation. The products of inflammation through the circulatory system enter the damaged ear and further inside the head. In other words, the cause of Meniere's disease is a slow, local intoxication of the body. I admit that the same reason provokes some neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease. Perhaps these are different consequences that have the same root cause.

Below are the simple steps needed to eliminate bouts of dizziness and nausea. The elimination of these main symptoms takes approximately two months. Meniere's disease comes and goes for a long time. Unfortunately, hearing cannot be restored, although some improvement is possible. Extraneous noise in the damaged ear is reduced.

If you feel the approach of an attack of dizziness or an attack in the process, do the following simple exercise. Take a deep breath, and then exhale sharply, then hold your breath and tightly pinch your nose with your fingers. After that, try to take a breath with your nose closed until you feel that the eardrums slightly popped from the pressure difference. This exercise can be done several times.

Oral hygiene. Pay attention to rinsing your mouth. The duration of the rinse is 5 to 10 minutes. The more often during the day, the better. For this procedure, it is best to use warm water with ordinary salt or baking soda dissolved in it in the proportion you can tolerate. Toothpastes and mouthwashes with a so-called “healing effect” should be avoided. Also in the morning it is necessary to carefully spit saliva several times in a row. It sounds very strange and too simple, but it works. The idea is that the products of inflammation are excreted from the body to the outside. You can also use any candy lollipops. When they are used, a vacuum is created in the oral cavity and the products of the inflammatory process are drawn out of the space between the gum and the teeth.

An important point is sleep hygiene. The head during sleep must be raised relative to the body and the upper body must also be raised. In no case should the head be at the level of the body.

It is important regularly to massage the face and the back of the head, as well as to make slow rotational movements of the head to the left and right. This improves blood circulation, speeds up metabolism and promotes the removal of inflammatory products to the outside. Do it with care, since in the acute phase of the disease attacks of dizziness can be provoked.

Currently used methods of treatment for Meniere's disease are ineffective, because aimed at eliminating the consequences and not affecting the root cause. Completely ineffective surgical vestibular nerve section and labyrinthectomy. In some cases, endolymphatic decompression or lymphatic drainage and orthokine injections may be helpful. Plasmapheresis can give a significant, albeit temporary improvement in well-being. It is useful to take a course of antibiotics such as Cyfran or Amoxillin or similar. For a complete cure, a complex microsurgical operation on the vessels in the ear area is necessary. This is a topic for a separate article.

The undoubted benefit will bring a visit to the dentist in order to find and eliminate the inflammatory process in the oral cavity. It is necessary to make a 3D Computed Tomography of the oral cavity and maxillofacial section of the head.

It is important to understand that these simple procedures should become a habit. This must be done constantly. With the improvement of well-being, when attacks of dizziness finally remain in the past, it may seem that this never happened. However, after some time, the disease can again remind of itself. In this case, very short attacks of dizziness can be observed, lasting literally a fraction of a second and can lead to a fall.

I wish you all a speedy recovery!

Best wishes, Yuri.

P.S. With barotrauma (contusion), conditions similar to Meniere's disease can be observed, and to improve the well-being of such patients, it makes sense to try the above recommendations.
